T-Shirt Skirt

T-Shirt Skirt {tutorial from here}
I have not been slacking... I promise! School has been out for the summer and I've been spending more of my time with my kids. We've had lots of time at the pool already! I'm loving summer! Also, we just got back from a week long family vacation and I've been spending a lot of prep time on that as well!

So, here's a quick little project that I did today. I found this tutorial and thought it looked so easy, that I couldn't pass it up! It uses a method called shirring, using elastic thread. I have never done this before and had my doubts, but it was so easy!!!

I took my daughter to a thrift store and we picked out a t-shirt in the color of her liking. She is 7 and I used a size adult medium for this skirt. It was a little big, so I'll probably get an adult small next time. Instead of sewing separate rows, I just lock stitched the beginning very well, and made a continuous line around about 9-10 times and then lock stitched it well at the end. It only took one bobbin of elastic thread for this size and about 10-15 minutes total sewing time! My daughter has a new $2 skirt and I have another sewing method under my belt! Can't beat that!
