Handmade Christmas

I took on the challenge of making a couple of Christmas gifts this year. I made two 18 inch pillow shams and a knitted scarf for my mom. Although knitting isn't new to me, I hadn't touched knitting needles or yarn for years. I honestly don't know what got into me when I decided to make it. I was a little nervous about how it would turn out, but my mom LOVED the scarf!

A Pillow for My Puppy

Several months ago, my furry friend decided to claim one of the family bed pillows as his own. I've been planning on making a cute cover for it for quite a while now, so this weekend, I took my daughter to the fabric store so she could pick out something cute! She also insisted that we put his name on it. This is what we came up with!

Yep, Little Furry Mister's name is 'Waffle'.
I added a little ruffle... even boy dogs need some glam!
The pillow I used was a standard size pillow. I basically made a pillow sham with a ruffled border and appliqued letters. This is my supply list:
  •  1 yard fabric for the pillow case - This is "Max and Whiskers" in teal and black by Moda
  • 1/2 yard fabric for the ruffle and letters
  • double-sided fusible web
  • matching thread
  • marker, printer paper
  • embroidery thread

I couldn't leave out a pic of Mr. Waffle! He is not a big fan of the camera.
This was a pretty easy project and I was able to complete it in an afternoon. I hope Waffle enjoys it as much as I do!

***Sorry for the poor quality of the pics. It seems like it is eternally rainy here. No sunshine means no good pics.

As soon as there is a sunny day, I'll be taking pics of my most recent quilt. I just finished it up this last week. I now have two more quilts that I'm working on! Also coming up are a Mother's Day gift, as well as a bag pattern that I'm working on!
