Redbird Bee Blocks

**The Brown Needle is now Sewlio. As of 5/1/13, all new blog posts can be found at www.sewliodesigns.com . Hope to see you there!**

Here's a peek at the most recent blocks I've done for the ladies in the Redbird Bee. With every new block I make, I feel like I need to make a quilt of my own. Does anyone else have that problem?

I love this Patchwork Wheel block that I did for Rene. It finishes at 20 inches square. It's huge and I can't wait to see her finished quilt!

This Star block was Gina's block for January. (We're already starting our second year!) This year, we decided to get away from doing "safe" blocks and stretch our skills a little. This block is paper-pieced, and it was my first attempt at paper piecing. My thoughts about paper piecing are simple- lots of time, lots of fabric waste, but so worth it! I had a lot of fun making this block, and I see more paper piecing in my future!

  1. Great Blocks! Well done! Yes, I want to make a quilt for every block I do! Is it a disease or is it an addiction? Do they have rehab for it? Thank you for sharing.

Have a super great sewing and stitching day!

  3. Yes, I agree. I bought two charm packs of Chicopee to make Rene's block. Now if I only had the time to sew!
